Yee of little faith.
Come on over to Wisconsin, where you can register just about anything as a “kit car” and get a title and plates for it. Meet the absolute minimum for road safety (1 mirror, brake and turn signal lights, headlights) and you’re good to go. You can run any engine, trans, wheel arrangement, etc.
Just keep it quiet and they won’t even pull you over. It’s wild.

Guy with sawzall: Let’s make a Vette Kart!
Guy with sawzall after watching the Top Gear Homemade car episode: Hmmm maybe I do want body work after all! I shall call it Geoff!

MN is the same.
Everyone jokes about how you can register anything in Florida, but it’s just as bad here.
I’ve been driving for 17 years, and have never had to get a car inspected.......

Pleasantly surprised this wasn't a rickroll

I’m totally confused as to why you’d replace the bodywork with something much less aerodynamic? Maybe it’s lighter, but it still seems like you’d have to be slower.

Here in florida I see people rolling around with GTA levels of damage to their cars. One had a whole front clip missing aside from the frame and the engine. Rolled by a gaggle of cops. They did nothing.
Bet you could just tool around on a V8 barstool down here without getting any flack.

except you are paying a premium for everything that is already yellow and red (that should just have been black)

I think it was just someone who regretted hacking up their car into a Vette Kart and tried to backtrack.

Tennessee doesn’t even have inspections

You’d think the salt states would have inspections, yet here we are.
I’ve seen someone get in an accident because their brake lines burst and were squirting fluid down the road. Tried to flag them down but was too late as they ass- packed a bus.
It’s insane.

Some tracks have banned “karts” like those so you quick add some “body panels” and you’re legal.

I think it’s becaus e most cars will be completely blown out and worthless by the time they’re dangerous. That’s the hope anyway.

I think that making the racing pickup pass emission test would be fairly easy. It seems to have pretty ordinary looking LS-something.
